ITOKO, a prestigious silk weaver founded in 1931, crafted this exclusive fabric using "Matsuoka-hime," a premium 100% Japanese raw silk. The lantern showcases large, elegant chrysanthemum patterns woven into the original ITOKO damask, creating a sophisticated and graceful ambiance.

Master artisans at Kimura Sensho, a renowned Kyoto dyeing house, hand-dye the silk using the "Moya-bokashi" technique. This traditional Kyoto Yuzen method applies subtle color gradations with specialized brushes to produce a warm, gentle glow. When lit, the silk shade allows the chrysanthemum petals to emerge in a dreamlike, ethereal display.

Expert woodworkers from Koseki, the joinery division of the famed Sukiya architecture firm Nakamura Sotoji Komuten, hand-build the frame. They use "Kyo-sashimono," a sophisticated Kyoto woodworking technique dating back to the Heian period, which joins pieces of wood precisely without a single nail. This lantern utilizes premium Yoshino cedar, complemented by a brass handle that adds a refined, modern touch.
