About ITOKO

ITOKO practices sustainable manufacturing to preserve Japanese silk culture and technology for future generations. We support and develop the domestic sericulture industry by maintaining strong partnerships with local silk farmers and managing our pure Japanese silk brand, Matsuoka Hime.

We focus on the unique value of silk as a natural material. Silk is completely biodegradable and naturally sourced. Its exceptional functionality and low environmental impact attract significant global attention.

While inheriting traditional dyeing and weaving techniques, ITOKO actively expands the potential of silk. We continuously develop innovative applications, extending our reach into lifestyle products, architecture, and interior design.

Creating Products That Harness the Beauty of Silk

ITOKO leverages high-quality silk threads and advanced processing technologies to produce a diverse range of silk products, starting with premium white silk fabrics for traditional Japanese wear.

As a natural material, silk offers a supple touch, elegant luster, exceptional moisture absorption, breathability, and thermal insulation. To bring these functional and aesthetic benefits into your daily life, we design lifestyle products that expand beyond kimonos, including folding fans, stoles, and interior accessories.

Furthermore, we developed "Silk Glass," a proprietary technology that encapsulates silk fabrics within glass, acrylic, panels, and shoji screens. This innovation successfully translates the exquisite design of silk from fashion into interior living spaces, elevating the ambiance of hotels, commercial facilities, and private residences.

Our Company - ITOKO Co.,Ltd

ITOKO, founded in 1931 in Muromachi, Kyoto, creates premium Japanese white silk fabrics. We pursue the ultimate quality of pure Japanese silk by weaving and dyeing every fabric exclusively within Japan. By partnering directly with domestic sericulture farmers, we meticulously oversee the entire production process from the initial cocoon cultivation to the final fabric weaving.

In 1996, we launched "Matsuoka Hime," Japan's first unified brand that manages the entire supply chain from silkworm cocoons to white silk fabrics. Through this brand, we actively sustain Japanese sericulture and preserve our rich silk culture. Today, we leverage our decades of silk expertise and our in-house design studio's exceptional artistry to honor time-tested traditions while continuously creating innovative new value.
