Kurume Kasuri is woven on retro belt-driven power looms from the Showa era, with twenty looms powered by a single motor. Founded in 1948, this weaving mill continues to produce one of Japan's most iconic yarn-dyed textiles. The fabric is known for its soft, handwoven-like texture. With over thirty manual processes, each roll takes two to four months to complete. This textile is ideal for anyone seeking to create items rooted in Japan's traditional craftsmanship.
Tatekatsuri, a kasuri technique that expresses the pattern only through the warp yarns, is also known as itagasuri. It is a traditional method that produces clean and distinctive patterning.
