- Secure the candle firmly on a candlestick and keep it away from flammable materials.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Ensure the candlestick is completely dry before use to prevent the wax from splattering.
- Traditional Japanese candles use wicks made of washi paper and rush grass. Trim the center of the wick with scissors every 20 to 30 minutes as it lengthens.
- Trim the wick before extinguishing to prevent ash from scattering and to ensure easy relighting.
- Use in a draft-free area. Strong winds cause soot and dripping wax, which prevents complete combustion.
- Skilled artisans hand-paint each design, making every piece unique.
