Brass is an essential material in the crafting of Takaoka copperware, and the Brass Wind Chime was born from a deep exploration of the metal's unique qualities and charm. Inspired by the sea and coastal breeze of Toyama, its design highlights the raw texture of cast brass, bringing out its natural beauty. The clear, expansive tone it produces is another distinctive feature of brass, offering a refreshing auditory experience.
The chime is suspended with a traditional braided cord, crafted using the "Yotsugumi" technique - an interlacing method still practiced today. Often used for netsuke cords, this braiding style creates bold, layered patterns with a dimensional character. The soft yet profound blue of the braided cord and the natural finish of the cast brass wind chime together evoke the gentle sea breeze of summer, offering a soothing moment of calm.
