This is a Nambu cast iron teapot. The interior is coated with lacquer. The lacquer will gradually wear off with use, but by then, minerals and calcium in tap water will have formed a coating that makes the teapot resistant to rust. It allows you to intake iron naturally, which may help prevent anemia.

Water boiled in a cast iron teapot removes chlorine from tap water, resulting in a smoother taste. It enhances the flavor of beverages like Japanese tea and coffee.
