About 'Matsuoka Hime' Pure Japanese Silk:
Silk production in Japan peaked in 1930 and has since declined. Currently, domestically produced silk accounts for less than 0.3% of the total silk product circulation in Japan. In order to preserve Japan's sericulture culture, ITOKO established 'Matsuoka Hime' as a unified brand for silk products, from cocoons to woven fabrics, in 1997.

One of Japan's three major premium silkworm varieties, 'Matsuoka Hime,' originated from the Shonai Domain in Yamagata Prefecture. Since its establishment as Japan's first unified brand for raw silk and unbleached fabric, 'Matsuoka Hime' has been synonymous with ITOKO's quality and has been cherished by customers to this day.
