A retro belt-driven power loom system from the Showa era, where 20 looms operate from a single motor.
This Kurume Kasuri weaving workshop was founded in 1948.
It is one of Japan's representative traditional yarn-dyed textiles.
Features a soft texture close to handwoven fabric.
With over 30 mostly manual processes, each fabric takes 2-4 months to complete.

[About Solid Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is known for its "kukuri" (binding) technique that creates many diverse patterns,
but even fabrics woven on a power loom retain a distinctive handwoven-like softness.
Because warping, weaving, and finishing are done with minimal stress on the yarn,
and many steps are performed by hand,
the texture has been passed down from artisan to artisan for generations.
Even without the kukuri process, such as in solid and striped fabrics,
the same craftspeople carry out the same careful processes,
resulting in a softness appreciated by many fans of the textile.
