These fabrics are woven on retro Showa-era belt-driven looms, with twenty looms powered by a single motor.
Founded in 1948, this mill is a long-established producer of Kurume Kasuri, one of Japan's representative traditional yarn-dyed textiles.
The fabric has a soft texture reminiscent of handwoven cloth.
Because many steps are done manually, more than 30 processes and 2 - 4 months are required to complete one roll.
This textile is ideal for those who want to create a special piece rooted in traditional Japanese craftsmanship.


The warp yarn is split into two groups and woven under different tensions, creating subtle uneven textures on the surface.
This prevents the fabric from clinging to the skin when exposed to sweat, leaving a small air gap that improves breathability.
For this reason, chijimi fabrics have long been favored as summer materials.


Warp yarn: 40/2, 60/2
Weft yarn: 12/1 nepped yarn
Fabric thickness: Soft with slight translucency
Chemical dyes: 100%
Finished with hot-water washing and sun-drying (shrinks about 10%, so you can cut and sew immediately after purchase).
Colors: 40/2 black, 60/2 white, white
