A retro belt-driven power loom system from the Showa era, where 20 looms operate from a single motor.
This Kurume Kasuri weaving workshop was founded in 1948.
It is one of Japan's representative traditional yarn-dyed textiles.
Features a soft texture close to handwoven fabric.
With over 30 mostly manual processes, each fabric takes 2-4 months to complete.

[About Solid Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is known for its "kukuri" (binding) technique that creates a wide variety of patterns,
but even when woven on a power loom, it retains a handwoven-like softness.
Processes such as warping, weaving, and finishing are done with minimal stress on the yarn,
with many steps performed by hand.
This texture, passed down through generations of artisans, remains one of its most recognized qualities.
Even when the kukuri process is omitted, as in solid and striped fabrics,
the same artisans complete the fabric with the same careful methods,
resulting in a soft touch highly valued by many enthusiasts.
