    Kurume Kasuri is woven on retro belt-driven power looms from the Showa era, where twenty looms are operated by a single motor. Founded in 1948, the mill continues to produce one of Japan's iconic yarn-dyed textiles. The fabric is known for its soft, handwoven-like texture. With over thirty manual processes, it takes two to four months to complete each roll. This textile is ideal for those who wish to create pieces that reflect traditional Japanese craftsmanship.


    This fabric features tatekatsuri, a kasuri pattern expressed solely through the warp yarns. It is also known as itagatsuri.
