Made in Japan
Product Description
Experience the pinnacle of Japanese craftsmanship with this hand-finished teapot, achieved through a rigorous triple-firing process. We fire the initial Shudei (red clay) base, apply natural seaweed for a unique texture, and finish with a specialized tea-kiln reduction to create the stunning "Cha-yohen" variegated glaze.
The "Kama-gata" (kettle-shape) design features a rounded body with a slightly tapered top, ensuring exceptional stability and a balanced pour. Its "Matsukawa" (pine bark) textured surface mimics the rugged feel of nature, providing a secure, non-slip grip that fits comfortably in your palm.
Every teapot features a built-in "Ceramesh" filter. This integrated ceramic strainer allows tea leaves to expand fully, extracting the purest flavor without the metallic aftertaste of wire meshes.
Gyokko Kiln
Master artisan Umehara Gyokko II handcrafts each piece at the renowned Gyokko Kiln. Both the second and third generations of the Gyokko lineage hold the prestigious title of Traditional Craftsman. They meticulously shape every teapot on a potter's wheel using a premium blend of Shudei and Yakishime clays.
Please note: As these are handcrafted items, individual dimensions and capacities may vary. The natural kiln transformation ensures that every "Cha-yohen" color pattern is unique, meaning your teapot may differ slightly from the product images.
Tokoname Ware
Dating back to the late Heian period, Tokoname stands as one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns. This pottery utilizes iron-rich clay sourced from the Chita Peninsula. By mastering the chemical reaction of this iron content, artisans produce the iconic deep-red Shudei finish that defines the Tokoname legacy.
