Product description:
[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri Weaving, which was established in 1948. It is a representative example of Japan's time-honored craft of pre-dyed weaving. This fabric features a soft and tactile quality reminiscent of hand weaving. The production involves intricate manual processes spanning over 30 steps and taking 2 to 4 months to complete. It is the perfect choice for individuals seeking to create meticulously crafted pieces with a strong traditional Japanese essence.
[Weaving Characteristics]
The "Tategami" technique, using only warp threads to express patterns, is also referred to as "itagasuri." The unique softness of the fabric is achieved by finely adjusting the density of both the warp and weft threads.
[Cross Pattern]
One of the most ancient and universally recognized symbols, the cross pattern has been used across various cultures. It appears in contexts such as the Christian cross, astrology, astronomy symbols, and directional indicators. Consequently, it symbolizes concepts such as "sacredness," "love for the divine," "resurrection," "victory over challenges," "hope," and the "vital force of life."
