    [About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed textile produced using twenty units of belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor, reminiscent of the retro Showa era. The Kurume Kasuri weaving mill was founded in 1948 and has since become a representative traditional pre-dyed fabric of Japan. It is known for its soft and handwoven-like texture, a characteristic similar to handcrafted work. The production process involves numerous manual steps, taking 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 processes.

    [Kurume Kasuri Plain Weave]
One of the distinctive features of Kurume Kasuri is the technique known as "kukuri," which allows for the expression of various patterns. Even with fabric woven on power looms, it retains a unique soft texture akin to handwoven pieces. Throughout the warping, weaving, and finishing processes, the threads are handled with minimal tension, and many stages are performed manually. This process imparts a special texture that has been passed down through generations of artisans. While the "kukuri" process may be omitted for plain or striped fabrics, the same artisans meticulously weave and finish them using the same manual techniques. As a result, the softness of the fabric is widely appreciated by many enthusiasts.

    [About Slub Yarn]
Slub yarn, also known as "isshoushi" or fancy yarn, is a type of yarn with decorative characteristics that contribute to the design. It contains longer and relatively larger nubs or slubs at various points along the thread, creating distinctive irregularities on the fabric's surface.
