[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri Weaving Workshop, established in 1948. It features a vintage aesthetic with 20 interconnected weaving machines powered by a single motor, reminiscent of the Showa era. Renowned as a representative of Japan's heritage, this fabric employs the ancient technique of pre-dyeing. Its hallmark is a soft, handcrafted feel reminiscent of hand weaving. The intricate production involves more than 30 steps, spanning 2 to 4 months, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to create meticulously detailed pieces within the realm of Japan's traditional textiles.

[Weaving Characteristics]
The weaving technique used is called "tatekasuri" or "vertical kasuri," where patterns are created exclusively using warp threads. This method is also referred to as "itagasuri."
