[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric originating from Kurume Kasuri Weaving Workshop, established in 1948. It is a distinguished representative of Japan's heritage of pre-dyed textiles. Known for its soft and slightly handwoven-like texture, this fabric is produced through a labor-intensive process that involves over 30 intricate steps, taking 2 to 4 months to complete. It is the perfect choice for individuals who wish to create meticulously crafted pieces within the realm of Japan's traditional textiles.
[Weaving Characteristics]
A unique weaving technique known as "tatekasuri" or "vertical kasuri" is utilized, wherein patterns are exclusively formed using warp threads. This technique is also referred to as "itagasuri."
