Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric that originated from Kurume Kasuri Weaving Workshop established in 1948. It is a renowned representative of Japan's heritage of pre-dyed textiles. This fabric is characterized by a soft texture reminiscent of handwoven materials. It involves a meticulous manual process, with over 30 intricate steps taking 2 to 4 months to complete. Ideal for those seeking to create a uniquely intricate piece in the realm of traditional Japanese textiles.

A distinctive weaving technique called "tatekasuri" or "vertical kasuri" is employed, where patterns are exclusively formed using warp threads. This method is also referred to as "itagasuri."
