Product description:

[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri Orimono, established in 1948, using a vintage belt-driven power loom system with 20 connected looms dating back to the Showa era. This fabric is renowned as a representative of Japanese traditional textiles.

[Characteristics of the Weave]
The fabric features a large striped pattern with one repeat across its width, a unique original design by Shimogawa Orimono.
The term "stripe" ("shima" in Japanese) originally referred to cotton fabric with vertical stripes imported from foreign countries through Nanban trade. It was called "shima-mono" (island fabric) because it was brought from distant lands ("shima") and later came to be known as "stripe" during the Edo period.

Vertical Threads: 40/2
Horizontal Threads: 10/1 (Slub)
Fabric Thickness: Slightly thick
Dyeing Method: Chemical dyeing (100% cotton)
Width: Approximately 38 cm
Finished with hot water washing and natural drying, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage, allowing for immediate cutting and sewing after purchase.

The fabric is sold in units of 6 meters. The price indicated is the unit price for 6 meters. Please be aware that there may be slight color variations between the actual product and the photographs.
