Product description:

[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric, produced using a retro-style, belt-driven power loom with twenty connected machines driven by a single motor. The Kurume Kasuri textile mill was established in 1948 and is renowned as a representative of Japan's traditional pre-dyed textiles. The fabric is characterized by its soft and handwoven-like texture, reminiscent of handwoven textiles.

[Weaving Characteristics]
The term "stripe" ("shima" in Japanese) originally referred to cotton fabric with vertical stripes imported from foreign countries through Nanban trade. It was called "shima-mono" (island fabric) because it was brought from distant lands ("shima") and later came to be known as "stripe" during the Edo period.

By using finer threads for the warp and thicker threads for the weft, we emphasize the texture of the weft threads, creating a soft and gentle texture

Warp Yarn: 60/2
Weft Yarn: 10/1 Slub
Fabric Thickness: Slightly thick and soft
Dyeing Method: Chemical dyeing (100% cotton)
Fabric Width: Approximately 38cm
Finishing: After weaving, the fabric undergoes a process of shrinking (approximately 10%) through hot water treatment and natural drying, enabling immediate cutting and sewing after purchase.

The fabric is sold in 6-meter increments, and the price reflects the unit cost for 6 meters. Please be aware that there may be slight differences in color perception between the actual fabric and the photographs.
