Product description:

[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric, produced by a retro-style, belt-driven power loom with twenty connected machines driven by a single motor. Founded in 1948, the Kurume Kasuri textile mill represents the spirit of Japan and is known for its soft and handwoven-like texture.

The weaving technique features a striped pattern known as "Shima" in Japanese. The term "stripe" ("shima" in Japanese) originally referred to cotton fabric with vertical stripes imported from foreign countries through Nanban trade. It was called "shima-mono" (island fabric) because it was brought from distant lands ("shima") and later came to be known as "stripe" during the Edo period.

The fabric's unique characteristics are achieved through the use of fine-threaded vertical yarns (60/2) and thick-threaded horizontal yarns (10/1 Largo), emphasizing the softness and texture of the horizontal yarns.

Warp Yarn: 60/2
Weft Yarn: 10/1 Largo
Fabric Thickness: Slightly thick and soft
Dyeing Method: Chemical dyeing (100% cotton)
Fabric Width: Approximately 38cm
Finishing: After weaving, the fabric undergoes a process of shrinking (approximately 10%) through hot water treatment and natural drying, enabling immediate cutting and sewing after purchase.
Mos Green 1342, Light Beige 520A, Fresh Green (Wakakusa 1340), Beige 1412, Fresh Green (Wakakusa 511), Dark Navy Blue (Largo Nokon).

The fabric is sold in 6-meter increments, and the price reflects the unit cost for 6 meters. Please be aware that there may be slight differences in color perception between the actual fabric and the photographs.
