[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese pre-dyed textile, produced by Kurume Kasuri Orimoto, founded in 1948. It represents one of Japan's iconic and time-honored pre-dyed fabrics. Known for its soft and handwoven-like texture, the fabric is characterized by the use of manual labor, involving over 30 intricate processes that take 2 to 4 months to complete. After weaving, the fabric undergoes a hot water treatment and natural drying process, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage, achieving its final appearance.

[Weaving Characteristics]
Kurume Kasuri utilizes fine 60/2 count weft yarn, which gives the fabric a glossy finish. It incorporates 5 to 7 colors in both the vertical and horizontal weft, creating a thin yet profound color composition. The weave is designed to be smooth and flat, accentuating the fabric's luster. This weaving technique is referred to as "kiri" at Shimogawa Orimono and is considered a formal style of fabric.
