    [About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese pre-dyed textile, and it is produced by Kurume Kasuri Orimoto, established in 1948. The fabric is woven using 20 retro-style belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor, dating back to the Showa era.

Known for its soft, hand-woven-like texture, Kurume Kasuri is a representative traditional pre-dyed textile of Japan. Its production involves extensive manual work, with more than 30 steps taking 2 to 4 months to complete. Once the fabric is woven, it undergoes a process of hot water treatment and natural drying, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage to achieve its final finishing.

This textile is highly suitable for individuals who seek to create unique items with a touch of traditional Japanese fabrics, and the company also supports entrepreneurial initiatives.

    [Characteristics of the Weave]
Kurume Kasuri uses fine 60/2 count weft yarn, giving the fabric a glossy finish. The fabric is woven with a combination of 5 to 7 colors both vertically and horizontally, resulting in a thin yet deep coloration. The weave is designed to be smooth and flat, accentuating the shine of the fabric. This weaving technique is referred to as "kiri" at Shimogawa Orimono, and it represents a formal style of fabric.
