[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese pre-dyed woven textile that is created using a unique method involving 20 retro belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor. Founded in 1948 during the 23rd year of the Showa era, this weaving tradition hails from Kurume and has become an emblem of Japan's heritage. Notable for its soft texture reminiscent of handwoven fabrics, it involves an intricate manual process spanning over 30 stages and requiring 2 to 4 months to complete. This fabric is an ideal choice for individuals seeking to create meticulously crafted pieces that embody the essence of Japanese traditional weaving.
[Weaving Characteristics]
The fabric's distinctiveness lies in the "Tategasuri" technique, where patterns are exclusively created using warp threads. This method is also known as "Itagasuri."
