[About Kurume Kasuri]
A retro Showa-era belt-driven power loom, consisting of twenty interconnected weaving machines powered by a single motor, characterizes Kurume Kasuri, a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric. Established in 1948, it is a representative of Japan's rich textile tradition. Known for its soft and handwoven-like texture, it undergoes a labor-intensive process, taking 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 intricate steps. Perfect for those who wish to create a meticulously crafted piece with a touch of Japanese heritage.
[Weaving Characteristics]
The "Tatekasuri" technique, where patterns are exclusively expressed using warp threads (vertical threads), is also known as "Itagasuri."
