Product description:
[Kurume Kasuri Fabric]
Our fabric is produced using a nostalgic belt-driven power loom system, where 20 looms are interconnected by a single motor. Established in the year 1948, Kurume Kasuri Orimono is a renowned name in Japan's traditional pre-dyed fabric industry. It boasts a soft texture akin to handwoven textiles and is characterized by an extensive manual process spanning over 30 steps, requiring 2 to 4 months for completion. It is the ideal choice for individuals seeking to create a meticulously crafted item within the realm of Japan's traditional textiles.
[Weaving Characteristics]
Half of the warp threads (tateito) are naturally indigo-dyed. Kurume Kasuri employs the traditional fermentation dyeing method for its indigo dyeing. This imparts a rich depth of color with minimal fading compared to indigo. By adding an extra step during the dyeing process, we achieve gradient effects. The warp preparation technique, known as "aramaki," is used to express the gradient achieved through dyeing as the weaving pattern itself.
