[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric produced using a retro belt-driven power loom system where twenty looms are connected to a single motor. Founded in 1948, it is a representative of Japan's renowned traditional pre-dyed woven textiles. Its unique feature lies in its soft and handwoven-like texture, similar to handcrafted pieces. The production process involves a significant amount of manual work, taking 2 to 4 months and more than 30 stages to complete. After weaving, the fabric is subjected to a natural shrinkage of about 10% through a hot water treatment and natural drying process.
The company also actively supports entrepreneurs, making this fabric an ideal choice for those who seek to create intricately crafted products with a touch of Japanese tradition.

[Characteristics of Weaving]
Kurume Kasuri is woven using the most basic weaving structure known as "Hiraori" or plain weave. Its defining feature is the expression of patterns through the "kukuri" tying technique. To enhance this characteristic, the weaving structure is kept simple. However, when creating plain fabrics with an emphasis on texture, they challenge conventional methods by exploring new possibilities. Within the framework of plain weave, they introduce changes in the density balance between the warp and weft threads, optimizing the color representation of both warp and weft threads. While typically the color of warp threads is more pronounced, in this fabric, they ingeniously emphasize the color of the weft threads while still using the warp threads as accents, resulting in an intricate interplay of colors.

[About "Mix Slub"]
For the warp threads (tate-ito), they use 60/2 and 30/2 yarns, while for the weft threads (yoko-ito), they employ 20/1 and 10/1 slub yarns. The fabric achieves an optimized mix of colors through the intersection of these four different yarn types. Despite its thickness, the fabric retains a unique softness in its texture.

Warp Yarn: 60/2, 30/2
Weft Yarn: 10/1 Slub, 20/1
