Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri weaving company, which was established in the Showa 23 era. It is a representative Japanese textile known for its soft texture, resembling hand-woven materials. The production process involves many manual steps, taking 2 to 4 months and more than 30 procedures to complete. Once woven, the fabrics undergo a natural drying process with steaming, causing them to shrink by approximately 10%.
[Characteristics of Weaving]
Kurume Kasuri is made using the most basic weaving structure called "Plain Weave." Its main feature lies in the expression of patterns through the "Kukuri" technique. To enhance this characteristic, the weaving structure is kept simple. However, when creating plain fabrics that prioritize texture by omitting the "Kukuri" technique, a different approach is attempted to explore new possibilities. By altering the balance of density between warp and weft threads within the framework of "Plain Weave," the optimization of colors is achieved. While typically the color of the warp thread is more prominent, in this fabric, efforts are made to emphasize the color of the weft thread, resulting in a complex interplay of colors where the warp thread acts as an accent.
[About Mix Slub]
Mix Slub is created using 60/2 and 30/2 threads for the warp and 20/1 and 10/1 slub threads for the weft. The optimization of mixed colors arises from the intersection of these four types of threads. The fabric maintains a unique texture with thickness while retaining a soft feel.
[Specifications]
The fabric is categorized as thick + soft. The warp threads consist of 60/2 and 30/2, while the weft threads are 10/1 slub and 20/1. The width of the fabric is approximately 38-39 cm, and it is made of 100% cotton. The available colors include 40/2 Renga (brick-red), 60/2 Oksu (oxblood), 10/1 Slub Kinari, and 20/1 Kincha (dark brown) 1322.
[Notes]
The fabric is sold in units of 6 meters, and the Notesed price is for 6 meters. Please be aware that the actual fabric may appear slightly different in color from the images.
