    [About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric, produced by a retro belt-driven power loom system where twenty looms are connected to a single motor. Established in 1948, it is a representative example of Japan's traditional textiles. This fabric is known for its soft and handwoven-like texture, resembling handcrafted pieces. The production process involves a significant amount of manual work, taking 2 to 4 months and over 30 stages to complete. After weaving, the fabric undergoes a natural drying process through hot water treatment, resulting in about a 10% shrinkage.
The company is actively involved in supporting entrepreneurs, making it an ideal choice for those who wish to create meticulously crafted products with a touch of Japanese tradition.

    [Characteristics of Weaving]
Kurume Kasuri is woven using the most basic weaving structure known as "Hiraori" or plain weave. Its most significant feature lies in the expression of patterns through the "kukuri" tying technique, which is why the weaving structure is kept simple to enhance this characteristic. However, when creating plain fabrics with an emphasis on texture, they explore new possibilities through a different approach. By adjusting the density balance between the warp and weft threads within the framework of plain weave, they optimize the color representation of both warp and weft threads. While traditionally the color of warp threads is more pronounced, in this fabric, they ingeniously emphasize the color of the weft threads while still using the warp threads as accents, resulting in the expression of intricate color intersections.

    [About "Mix Slub"]
For the warp threads (tate-ito), 60/2 and 30/2 yarns are used, while for the weft threads (yoko-ito), 20/1 and 10/1 slub yarns are employed. The fabric achieves an optimized mix of colors through the intersection of these four different yarn types. Despite its thickness, the fabric retains a unique softness in its texture.
