[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese hand-dyed woven fabric. The production involves a retro belt-driven power loom, with twenty looms connected to a single motor. The Kurume Kasuri weaving company was established in 1948, representing Japan's rich weaving heritage.
The fabric is known for its soft and handwoven-like texture, achieved through multiple manual processes. It takes around 2 to 4 months and more than 30 intricate steps to complete the weaving process for each fabric. Once woven, all textiles undergo a natural drying process after being immersed in hot water, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage to achieve the final finish.
The fabric is perfect for those who appreciate traditional Japanese textiles and seek a unique and meticulously crafted piece.

[Weaving Characteristics]
Kurume Kasuri features a unique technique called "kukuri," allowing for various patterns to be expressed. Even when woven on power looms, the fabric retains a soft and distinct handwoven texture. The craftsmen take great care to minimize the stress on the threads during processes such as warping, weaving, and finishing, preserving the traditional feel passed down through generations. While the "kukuri" process is omitted for solid-colored or striped fabrics, the same skilled craftsmen meticulously weave and finish these textiles, resulting in the same softness and quality appreciated by many.

[About Slub Yarn]
Slub yarn is a type of fancy yarn that adds a decorative element to the fabric. It is characterized by the intentional creation of longer and relatively large nubs or irregularities in the yarn, creating a distinctive speckled appearance on the fabric's surface.

[About Kiri Wide]
Kiri Wide is created by experimenting with the "plain weave" structure, the most basic weaving structure of Kurume Kasuri. By adjusting the balance between warp and weft thread densities within this structure, the fabric achieves optimal color expression. While warp threads usually have a stronger influence on the fabric's color, in this fabric, we make an effort to highlight the weft threads, resulting in a complex interplay of colors.
The warp threads are 40/2, and the weft threads are 20/1 with slub yarn and 30/2 for extra thickness and a soft, textured feel.
