[About Kurume Kasuri]
Twenty looms, connected by a single motor, operate these retro Showa-era belt-driven power looms. Established in the 23rd year of the Showa era (1948), Kurume Kasuri has been producing traditional pre-dyed woven textiles that represent Japan. Known for its soft texture reminiscent of handwoven fabrics, it undergoes a manual process with over 30 steps, taking 2 to 4 months to complete. The finished fabric is subjected to a process of hot water and natural drying, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage. This fabric is an ideal choice for those who seek to create a meticulously crafted piece with a touch of Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Characteristics]
"Kataha" refers to using a single thread. By alternating two colors in the warp threads, a technique unique to pre-dyed fabrics, it achieves a rich color depth that cannot be achieved with a single color. The warp threads are black and oxblood, while the weft threads use slub yarn to create a three-dimensional effect. Warp: Black, Oxblood, Weft: Shouai 8A.
