Wind Chime - Chokin

Chokin is a traditional metal engraving technique in which intricate designs are carved into metal surfaces using chisels and hammers. The patterns, skillfully and sharply etched by artisans, possess a dynamic energy and a shimmering beauty unique to metal. These artistic wind chimes, born from Japan's cultural heritage and craftsmanship, are a tribute to that tradition.

The Chokin Wind Chime is crafted in collaboration with Wada Chokin Studio, located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Since the Meiji era, this studio has passed down the art of metal engraving through five generations, adding distinctive value to various metalworks. Today, its refined techniques are being carried on from master artisans to emerging talents.

Each Chokin Wind Chime features Japanese motifs engraved as complementary front and back designs, where the vivid expression on one side is echoed by the lingering resonance on the other. The result is a poetic and mesmerizing piece that captures the depth of a story within a single form.
