[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri Weaving, founded in the 23rd year of the Showa era, operates a retro belt-driven power loom system comprising 20 interconnected looms. It is a representative traditional pre-dyed woven textile from Japan. Known for its soft texture reminiscent of hand weaving, it involves a labor-intensive process with over 30 steps taking 2 to 4 months to complete. This makes it an ideal choice for individuals seeking to create unique and meticulously crafted pieces with a touch of Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Characteristics]
"Standing Kasuri" (Tatekasuri), which expresses patterns solely through warp threads, is also referred to as "Itagasuri" (Itagasuri). The warp threads for the pattern and the ground threads (white) have different thicknesses, creating a subtle undulation in the fabric. The fabric is thin and being white, it has a sheer quality.

[Reverse-Tying Technique]
Using the technique of tying on the reverse side, black patterns are created on a white ground. This technique, known as "reverse tying," is employed to achieve certain patterns, such as white kasuri. Due to the doubled effort required during the tying process, this technique is only used for specific patterns.
