[About Kurume Kasuri]
A collection of 20 retro belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor operate to create Kurume Kasuri, a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric. Founded in 1948, Kurume Kasuri is a representative example of Japan's heritage of advanced pre-dyed weaving. With a soft texture reminiscent of hand weaving, this fabric is characterized by its intricate production process. It involves over 30 steps and takes 2 to 4 months to complete, making it ideal for those who seek to create unique and meticulously crafted pieces in the realm of Japan's traditional textiles.

[Weaving Characteristics]
The weaving technique known as "Tateyoko Kasuri" involves the overlapping of warp threads (tateito) and weft threads (yokoito) to create patterns. Kurume is the last remaining region with the capability to weave Tateyoko Kasuri using power looms. The presence of tying (kukuri) machines and skilled artisans ensures that Kurume Kasuri preserves the highest expertise in Tateyoko Kasuri weaving in the modern world.

[Cosmos Motif]
The "Cosmos" flower represents "harmony" and "maiden's innocence." The name "cosmos" derives from the Greek word "kosmos," which means beautiful. Just as the stars beautifully align in the cosmos, the flower petals of the cosmos are also arranged harmoniously. To reflect this, the design features an arrangement of cosmos flowers.
