Kurume Kasuri is a traditional Japanese pre-dyed woven fabric produced by Kurume Kasuri Orimoto, founded in 1948. It features a nostalgic retro-style belt-driven power loom setup with 20 interconnected looms, reminiscent of the Showa era. This fabric is representative of Japan's heritage as a pre-dyed woven textile. It is characterized by its soft texture reminiscent of hand weaving. The production process involves a significant amount of manual work, spanning over 30 stages and taking 2 to 4 months to complete.

The weaving technique employed in Kurume Kasuri is known as "tate kasuri," where the pattern is exclusively created using warp threads (tate ito). This method is also referred to as "ita gasuri" or "board kasuri."
