[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric known for its retro belt-driven power loom system, where twenty looms are connected to a single motor. Founded in 1948, it represents a classic example of Japanese traditional textiles. One of its distinctive features is the soft and handwoven-like texture. The production process involves many manual steps, taking approximately 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 stages of weaving. Once woven, the fabric undergoes a natural drying process through hot water treatment, resulting in about a 10% shrinkage.
The company is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and offers an ideal fabric choice for those who seek to create meticulously crafted products with a touch of Japanese tradition.

[Characteristics of Weaving]
Kurume Kasuri is woven using the most basic weaving structure called "Hiraori" or plain weave. The prominent feature lies in the "kukuri" tying technique used to express the patterns. To highlight this characteristic, the weaving structure is kept simple. However, when aiming to create plain fabrics with an emphasis on texture, the company takes a different approach and challenges new possibilities. By altering the density balance between the warp and weft threads within the framework of plain weave, they achieve optimal color representation for both warp and weft threads. While typically, the color of warp threads is more pronounced, in this fabric, the weft threads' color is enhanced while maintaining the warp threads as accents, allowing for the expression of intricate color intersections.

[About "Mix Slub"]
For the warp threads (tate-ito), 60/2 and 30/2 yarns are used, while for the weft threads (yoko-ito), 20/1 and 10/1 slub yarns are employed. The fabric achieves an optimized mix of colors through the intersection of these four different yarn types. Despite its thickness, the fabric retains a unique softness in its texture.
