[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri, established in 1948, is a distinguished traditional Japanese pre-dyed textile workshop. Our distinctive weaving takes place on a set of 20 vintage belt-driven power looms, all connected to a single motor, evoking the retro charm of Showa-era craftsmanship. We specialize in creating fabrics that exhibit a soft and delicate texture akin to hand weaving. Our production process involves an extensive manual effort, encompassing over 30 intricate steps that span 2 to 4 months. Following weaving, each piece undergoes a thorough hot water treatment and natural drying process, resulting in approximately 10% shrinkage.

Our fabrics hold true to the essence of traditional Japanese weaving, making them the perfect choice for individuals seeking to craft exquisite pieces with a unique touch.

[Distinctive Weaving Features]
Our distinctive weaving approach involves arranging kasuri threads without specific pattern alignment, encompassing the entire fabric. Additionally, the weft threads incorporate a complex layering of over 30 colors, leading to subtle variations in color with each production batch. The arrangement of warp threads, known as "Hitotudachi," involves repeating a single pattern multiple times to create a fabric width of 38 centimeters. This method sets us apart from conventional warping techniques, where multiple patterns are utilized to achieve the same fabric width.
