Our Company - UNSODO Corporation

UNSODO was established in 1891 as an art book publishing company in Kyoto. It is the only publishing house in Japan that produces hand-printed woodblock prints, utilizing this technique to create various art books and craft items. The name "UNSODO" was given by Tetsuzai Tomioka. "UNSODO" refers to a perennial herb in the citrus family, known by its Chinese name "unkousou." In Southern Europe, it is cultivated under the name "Wijnruit" and is used for medicinal and ornamental purposes. It has traditionally been used as an herb to protect books from pests.
