Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven textile that originates from Kurume Kasuri Weaving, founded in the 23rd year of the Showa era. It is a representative traditional pre-dyed textile of Japan, known for its soft and delicate texture reminiscent of hand weaving. The production process involves intricate manual work, spanning over 30 stages and taking 2 to 4 months to complete. This textile is ideal for those who wish to create meticulously crafted pieces with a touch of Japanese tradition.
[Weaving Characteristics]
"Tategasuri" technique, which uses only warp threads to create patterns, is also referred to as "itagasuri." Patterns are designed by combining 1 to 6 different binding patterns.
[About Yoroke Stripe]
Yoroke Stripe: A striped pattern created using curved lines. While various techniques and printing approaches are used to create curved patterns, the Yoroke Stripe, which utilizes the unique binding technique of Kasuri, is an original creation of Shimogawa Orimono. The Yoroke Stripe, born from a fresh perspective that departs from conventional traditional methods, carries themes of renewal, change, and innovation.
