[About Kurume Kasuri]
Our Kurume Kasuri workshop, established in the year 1948, operates a collection of twenty interconnected belt-driven power looms, representing the vintage charm of the Showa era. These looms are the heart of our traditional Kurume Kasuri weaving. With a history of more than seven decades, we proudly uphold the art of pre-dyed Japanese textiles. Our fabrics are renowned for their soft, handwoven-like texture, a result of the meticulous craftsmanship involved in over thirty intricate processes. This extensive journey takes two to four months to culminate in a finished piece, and every textile undergoes a unique natural shrinking process through hot water immersion and air drying.

Kurume Kasuri is a quintessential choice for individuals seeking to create items that encapsulate the spirit of Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Characteristics]
Incorporating the technique of "tong," thin wooden tubes, we create a horizontal kasuri pattern by winding weft threads around these tubes and deliberately avoiding precise pattern alignment. We further enhance the design by weaving two threads in alignment, allowing two kasuri threads-one dyed black and the other white-to intricately overlay, creating depth and variation in color intensity. This weaving technique also extends to the warp threads, forming a two-color pinstripe pattern that harmonizes beautifully with the kasuri design.

Please note that the kasuri pattern on the weft varies in an irregular manner.
