Kurume Kasuri Weaving, established in the 23rd year of the Showa era, operates a retro belt-driven power loom system comprising 20 interconnected looms. It is a traditional pre-dyed woven textile that represents Japan. Known for its soft texture akin to hand weaving, it involves numerous manual processes and takes 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 steps. This makes it an ideal choice for individuals who want to create meticulously crafted pieces that embody the essence of Japanese tradition.
[Weaving Characteristics]
"Standing Kasuri" (Tatekasuri), which expresses patterns solely through warp threads, is also referred to as "Itagasuri" (Itagasuri). It showcases grid patterns using a weaving machine called "4-cho loom" (yoncho shoki).
[Arare Pattern]
The term "Arare" refers to fine-spaced patterns. The arrangement of Arare patterns in irregular vertical and horizontal alignments creates an intriguing effect with the patterns intersecting and crossing each other unexpectedly. The unpredictability of the pattern arrangement adds an element of fascination. These versatile patterns can be used for clothing and various goods.
