A retro belt-driven power loom from the Showa era, consisting of 20 looms connected to a single motor. Established in the 23rd year of the Showa era, Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric that represents Japan. It features a soft and handwoven-like texture reminiscent of manual weaving. With its numerous manual processes, it takes 2 to 4 months to complete over 30 steps. This fabric is perfect for individuals seeking to create a meticulously crafted piece, embracing the essence of Japan's traditional textiles.
[Weaving Characteristics]
The "tatekasuri," also known as "itagasuri" or "itagasuri," is a technique that uses only warp threads (tateito) to create patterns. The random geometric patterns are a unique expression of tatekasuri.
[Explanation of "4 Ha"]
"4 ha" is a unit used by kasuri craftsmen to count threads. 1 ha equals 2 threads. In this pattern, 4 ha or 8 threads are arranged within the deep navy solid-colored warp threads.
