[Kurume Kasuri Overview]
Our heritage lies in a collection of 20 interconnected looms, each driven by a single motor, evoking the retro charm of Showa-era belt-driven power looms. Established in 1948 during the 23rd year of the Showa period, we are the purveyors of Kurume Kasuri, an iconic pre-dyed woven fabric that embodies the essence of traditional Japan. Our textiles bear the hallmark of a soft and supple touch, akin to handwoven creations. Crafted through an intricate series of manual processes, spanning over 30 stages and requiring 2 to 4 months, our fabrics are perfect for those who seek to craft unique pieces steeped in Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Characteristics]
In our distinctive weaving style, we employ the "tong" technique - winding the weft threads around wooden slats - to create horizontal kasuri patterns. Uniquely, we deliberately forgo pattern alignment, weaving the kasuri weft threads randomly. Additionally, pairing two threads while weaving imbues a sense of depth through the interplay of black and white dyed kasuri threads. The warp threads are crafted in a two-color pinstripe pattern, enhancing the interplay of colors with the weft threads.

Please note that the kasuri pattern on the weft exhibits irregular variations.
