[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed woven fabric, crafted by Kurume Kasuri Orimoto, established in 1948. It is renowned as a representative form of traditional Japanese resist-dyeing textile. The fabric boasts a soft texture reminiscent of hand weaving and is woven using a collection of 20 power looms connected to a single motor, reflecting the retro style of Showa-era belt-driven weaving machines. With its origins dating back to the 23rd year of the Showa period (1948), Kurume Kasuri holds a storied history.

The hallmark of this fabric lies in its delicate and intricate craftsmanship, which involves an extensive manual process spanning over 30 steps. Completion of a single piece can take anywhere from 2 to 4 months.
