[About Kurume Kasuri]
Our Kurume Kasuri workshop, established in 1948, operates a collection of 20 interconnected looms powered by a single motor, evoking a retro Showa-era feel. We are known for producing traditional pre-dyed textiles that represent Japan's heritage. Our fabrics are characterized by a soft texture reminiscent of hand weaving and undergo a meticulous production process that spans 30 steps or more, taking 2 to 4 months to complete. Crafted with care, our textiles are all subjected to a process of natural shrinkage through hot water immersion and air drying, resulting in a 10% reduction in size. Ideal for those seeking to create distinctive pieces with a touch of Japanese tradition.

[Weaving Features]
By finely adjusting the density of the weave, we achieve a soft texture distinct from the traditional vertical-horizontal kasuri. The use of a 4-shaft loom allows for the incorporation of three colors in the weft, creating a checkered pattern. Striped accents from kasuri threads are introduced into the warp, arranged in a random pattern to lend depth to the colors of the checks. The incorporation of kasuri threads into the weave results in a checkered pattern with a Japanese flair, hence the deliberate use of the term "�i�q" (koushi), meaning "lattice," in kanji.
