    [About Kurume Kasuri]
The Kurume Kasuri workshop operates with twenty vintage belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor. Established in 1948, it is a traditional dyed fabric producer in Kurume, Japan, renowned for its hand-dyed woven textiles. The fabrics boast a soft and delicate texture, reminiscent of handwoven craftsmanship. The production process involves extensive manual labor, taking 2 to 4 months and comprising over 30 intricate steps.

    [Kurume Kasuri's Plain Fabric]
While Kurume Kasuri is well-known for its diverse patterns achieved through the technique called "kukuri," even the power-loomed fabrics possess a unique softness akin to handwoven textiles. Careful attention is given to every stage, including warping, weaving, and finishing, with a focus on minimizing strain on the threads through manual handling. The resulting texture is a testament to the heritage of skilled artisans who have passed down their knowledge through generations. Despite omitting the "kukuri" process for plain or striped designs, the same craftsmen meticulously weave and finish the fabric. As a result, even those who encounter these plain fabrics for the first time acknowledge their softness and appeal.

    [About Slub Yarn]
Slub yarn is a type of fancy yarn, known for its decorative properties. It contains intentional, small lumps spun into the yarn during the spinning process. These small lumps are called "neps." Since yarn is referred to as "yarn," it is called "slub yarn." By using slub yarn for the weft threads, the fabric acquires a hand-spun appearance and unique texture.
