After weaving, the copper wire is removed, leaving loop-shaped protrusions woven into the fabric, creating air pockets that enhance its insulation properties. Among the numerous silk fabrics, this is an exceptionally intricate weave. In addition to the aesthetic appeal, rarity, and luster of silk, this product also offers moisture absorption, breathability, insulation, and anti-static effects.
The dyeing process was meticulously carried out by skilled artisans at a renowned dyeing workshop in Kyoto, known for its pursuit of black dyeing, a traditional Japanese formalwear technique called 'kuro-mon-tsuki.'
The palm area features a wool knit blended with cashmere, ensuring a soft and comfortable fit without stiffness. Each pair is carefully crafted at a leading domestic glove-specialized sewing factory.
By incorporating cashmere into the wool knit of the palm section, we've enhanced both warmth and softness. Due to the knit material, the gloves fit snugly on the hands. Additionally, conductive threads are sewn into the fingertips, allowing touchscreen compatibility while wearing the gloves.
Velvet is said to have been introduced to Japan during the 16th century through trade with Portugal. Before dyeing, white velvet was highly prized for its resemblance to the luster and texture of swan feathers, earning it the name 'Nanban Bateren Velvet.' It was highly esteemed by the rulers of the time.
While Itoko has been creating our original woven velvet for years, its exquisite beauty remains known only to a select few kimono enthusiasts. Therefore, we are proud to introduce the Itoko original 'Silk Velvet Gloves.' This rare fabric is quietly woven by a remaining weaver in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.
