Our establishment, founded in 1948, houses a collection of twenty vintage belt-driven power looms connected to a single motor. These looms create Kurume Kasuri-a revered tradition of pre-dyed Japanese textiles. Characterized by a soft and tactile quality akin to handwoven fabrics, our textiles are a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, involving over thirty processes spanning two to four months. Each piece undergoes a 10% reduction in size through a natural drying process after being immersed in hot water.
A perfect choice for those seeking to craft a piece that embodies the essence of Japanese tradition.
[Weaving Characteristics]
For the weft kasuri, threads wound onto wooden tubes known as "tong" are used without deliberate pattern alignment, creating a random arrangement. Additionally, by weaving two threads together, the interplay of black and white kasuri threads adds depth and subtlety to the color variations. The warp threads, arranged in a two-color pinstripe pattern, further contribute to the intricate layering of colors when they intersect with the weft threads.
*Please note that the kasuri pattern on the weft varies irregularly.
