    A retro Showa-era belt-driven power-loom system with 20 looms connected to a single motor.
Founded in 1948, this Kurume Kasuri mill produces one of Japan's representative traditional yarn-dyed textiles.
It features a soft texture close to handwoven fabric.
With many manual processes, it takes over 30 steps and 2 - 4 months to complete each bolt.

A type of cotton fabric. When highly twisted weft yarns are used to create"shibo" texture on the fabric surface, the textile is called cotton chijimi.
Among these, the type with vertical"shibo" is known as"Yoryu," named because the texture resembles overlapping willow leaves.

Naturally crinkled texture with elasticity, making it durable.
The uneven surface prevents it from clinging to the skin, offering a smooth and airy feel.
Excellent in moisture absorption, quick-drying, and cool comfort.

Introduced to Japan during the Azuchi - Momoyama period by Chinese weavers.
It suited Japan's hot and humid climate and became widely used across the country during the Edo period.

A type of checkered pattern created by alternating squares or rectangles of different colors.
Historically used in crafts, architecture, and various decorative arts as an auspicious motif.
Because the pattern extends endlessly in all directions, it symbolizes prosperity and continuity of descendants.
Originally known as"Ishidatami" (stone pavement) pattern, it became famous in the Edo period when Kabuki actor Sanogawa Ichimatsu popularized it on his hakama.
Due to its evolution through time, Shimogawa Orimono interprets this pattern as a symbol of advancement and success ("Shusse-gara").
