A town with beautiful scenic nature and an abundance of hot springs
Gunma Prefecture is located in the north-west of the Kanto Region. It has many natural attractions such as mountains, plateaus, lakes and rivers. The northern part has a climate influenced by the Sea of Japan, with cool summers and cold, snowy winters, meaning it is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Conversely, the southern part of the prefecture has a climate similar to that of Tokyo, with some areas recording the highest temperatures in the country.
Gunma Prefecture is also home to more than 100 hot springs, including Kusatsu Onsen, one of the three most famous hot springs in Japan. It is also home to the World Heritage Site of Tomioka Silk Mill, where visitors can experience the historical atmosphere of Japan.

・Isesaki-kasuri
Isesaki-kasuri is a textile produced mainly in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture. The fabrics have gained a great reputation for their high quality as a result of the meticulous production methods.
・Okirikomi
Okirikomi is a local dish consisting of wide noodles cooked with seasonal vegetables and mushrooms. Various combinations of soy sauce and miso are used to season the dish.
・Yaki manju
Yaki manju is another local delicacy of Gunma Prefecture. Steamed manju buns are skewered onto bamboo skewers, coated with miso sauce and grilled. They are usually removed from the skewer and eaten with chopsticks.
