[About Kurume Kasuri]
Kurume Kasuri is a traditional pre-dyed textile from Japan, known for its association with a network of 20 weaving machines connected to a single motor, reminiscent of the retro belt-driven power looms from the Showa era. Established in the year 1948, Kurume Kasuri weaves the essence of Japan's rich weaving heritage. Its distinct feature is the soft, handwoven-like texture that closely resembles the art of manual weaving. The intricate production process involves over 30 steps and takes 2 to 4 months to complete. This textile is perfectly suited for those with a deep appreciation for Japanese tradition and a desire to craft unique pieces with meticulous care.

[Weaving Characteristics]
Kurume Kasuri employs the "tatekasuri" technique, also referred to as "itagasuri," where intricate patterns are formed solely through the warp threads (tateito). The term "Highway" here does not refer to the conventional "expressway" but signifies a main road connecting multiple towns and cities. Just as highways link places, this fabric is meant to symbolize the connections forged through its patterns, fostering connections between diverse individuals.
